Sandwich Sandwich pledges free meals for those in need

Bristol-based sandwich business Sandwich Sandwich has pledged to provide free food to people struggling financially, extending its commitment to supporting local communities.

In a message shared on Instagram on 20 January, the family-run business said it would offer free meals to anyone in need, stating that if a sandwich can “ease the burden”, it is “our duty” to help. The offer is open-ended, with support available “until you’re back on your feet”.

Sandwich Sandwich previously provided free meals during the festive period but has now expanded the initiative to support anyone requiring regular help.

Founded in 2010 by self-taught chef Nick Kleiner as Cotham Sandwich Co, the business rebranded to Sandwich Sandwich in 2012. It now operates four sites across Bristol and London, with plans to open its first international location in Dubai later this year.

The Dubai opening will mark the brand’s first franchise, as Sandwich Sandwich looks to grow both in the UK and overseas.

The initiative comes during a period of strong growth for the business, which has developed a loyal following for its generously filled sandwiches. The brand regularly draws long queues at its sites and has built significant reach across social media.
